The course reviews the fundamentals of good academic writing in English and teaches essay writing essentials in two rhetorical modes [persuasion and argumentation]. It also focuses on developing students’ research and oral presentation skills.

Dr. Maysaa Banat
Dr. Maysaa Banat holds a BA in English Literature and a teaching Diploma in TEFL from the American University of Beirut. She earned her MA from the Lebanese University, Faculty of Pedagogy and her Doctorate of Education from the Doctoral School of Literature, Humanities & Social Sciences. Dr. Banat is an assistant professor at Rafik Hariri University, College of Arts & Sciences. She has an extensive teaching experience combined with course work and research background. Dr. Banat teaches at a variety of universities at all levels in the fields of English language and literature, media journalism, teacher training, and education. Dr. Banat main research interests are in technology-enhanced language learning and teacher development. She is a strong advocate of student-centered instruction and self-directed learning. Dr. Banat has published and presented in national and international conferences and conducted various national and international workshops on Technology Enhanced Learning, Exploratory Practice, Learning Styles, Portfolio Assessment, and Autonomy in writing. She is also a reviewer in refereed journals and a member of the Specialized Technical Committees at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education
